Telpochcalli Community Education Project (TCEP) is the responsive community engagement organization in Little Village providing its residents with wrap-around comprehensive direct services; opportunities to develop skills that ensure their active participation in decisions directly affect their health and well-being; and support in their grassroots efforts to secure political, economic, and social equity.

TCEP is a registered 501 (c)3 nonprofit.

OUR MISSION

Telpochcalli Community Education Project mobilizes youth and adults for social justice work by building individual capacity, collective power, and mutual responsibility through culturally relevant and community-directed education, leadership development, and organizing.

TCEP highly values the capacity of individuals to have both a collective impact on and responsibility for their own well-being and that of their communities; on the culture, traditions, and inter-generational understanding of all members of the community; and on the importance of transparency, respect, and collaboration.

OUR HISTORY

Telpochcalli Community Education Project (TCEP) is a nonprofit organization located in the Little Village/South Lawndale community of Chicago’s west side. The organization was founded in 1998 by a group of parents and teachers committed to address the lack of social, cultural and educational resources available to families in Little Village and Telpochcalli School. In 2002, TCEP formally organized as a nonprofit community-based organization. TCEP provides the opportunity for education and empowerment, enabling participants to take action to change their communities for the better.
